Arc-Minute QuadsWhat the product does
Choose a state, click the tiles you need, and download a single composite topo map at print-ready resolution. It's built from the official USGS FSTopo series, so the contours, trails, and landmarks stay true to the terrain.
We handle the data wrangling behind the scenes — stitching tiles together, aligning the grid, and delivering a clean, high-resolution image that's easy to bring into the field.
Why it exists
Navigating National Forests shouldn't require military-grade map skills. We built Maps By Max to remove the busywork and give you the topo detail you need for safe, confident trips.
Instant Composites
No more downloading dozens of PDFs and stitching them by hand. Select your tiles and get one ready-to-use image.
Precise Coverage
Tiles are aligned to the USGS 7.5-minute grid so every contour line, trail, and landmark stays accurate.
Print-Ready Quality
300 DPI output sized for large-format printing. Frame it, laminate it, or take it into the backcountry.
Nationwide Scope
43 states, 9,700+ tiles covering national forest land from coast to coast. More states coming soon.
Who we are
We're hikers, anglers, and weekend explorers who wanted better access to National Forest maps. Maps By Max started as a personal tool for trip planning and grew into a service that helps more people get outside with confidence.
